BEYOND, Wong Ka Kui

Being a looooong time fan of BEYOND, I was all hyped up that Hot Toys release this awesome (freakish to some) figure ot late singer/songwriter of BEYOND, Wong Ka Kui.

His songs and voices still last until today. Which inspired and changed the rock scene of Hong Kong.

Wong Ka-Kui (June 10, 1962 - June 30, 1993) was a Hong Kong composer, songwriter, musician and singer. He was the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and the founder of the Hong Kong rock band Beyond.

He composed more than 90 percent of the songs for Beyond and wrote a few award-winning lyrics. Ka-Kui is remembered for his musical talents as well as his unique and powerful voice that is able to convey a number of emotions. His songs are often addressing humanity and social issues such as injustice, war and peace, racism, poverty, family and pursuit of dream.

Wong Ka-Kui had a great influence on at least a generation of Chinese because of his outlook on life and the spirit of never giving up. He devoted his entire life to achieve change in the Hong Kong music industry and also tried to make a difference in the world.

While filming a gameshow for Fuji Television in Japan on June 24, 1993, Wong Ka-Kui fell off a 3 meter platform head first, and was hospitalized immediately. He died after spending several days in coma due to internal bleeding of head injuries.

This one of two release of the MMS line of Wong Ka Kui. I chose this set to review because this set are better in all aspect of the release. 

This set come with additional hand sign/pose , microphone, a guitar with strap as well as tiny detailed accessories.

The headsculpt is truly remarkable and out of this world. It captured the likeliness of Ka Kui face and expressions.

As I suspected, the body of this figure are new truetype figure of HT. so nothing special on that part. As usual, clothing by Hot Toys are always remarkable and awesome quality. 

The microphone and stand are another steal on this set. Very detailed and life-like as it's 1:1 counterpart. The microphone can be removed from the stand as well. But Ka Kui rarely hold a mic and sing. 

The 1/6 guitar too are wonderfully done. There are gimmick on the arm (whammy bar) and the string are actually ermm, pluckable -but won't produce sound - LOL

I really have no complain on this set, mainly it was someone important to Hongkies music/entertainment industry. Hence the awesome QC on this release.

Overall, I am happy being one of the owner of this remarkable and truly outstanding figure. This will be my most priced figure ever bought by me. Now I am a happyman.
